Christmas all wrapped up

The Great British Bake Off Christmas special was a delight to watch yesterday evening.  It was rather strange hearing the music again and knowing there would be no competitive element.  There were sweeping scenes of snowy fields and it started with a little cosy chat between Mary and Paul talking about their memories of Christmas.

How are you feeling about preparing Christmas Dinner? Arguably it's one of the most important meals of the year, or at least the one we spend most time thinking about.  Danny Kingston aka Food Urchin gives his five top tips on how to have a stress free Christmas meal.

It's arguable that nothing beats a homemade mince pie (and with our delicious mince pie recipe from Shay Cooper, there's nothing to stop you).  However, with the supermarket shelves & artisan bakers bursting with a variety of mince pies, at Great British Chefs HQ we set ourselves the tough challenge of tasting ten, to see which came out on top!

Do you feel that Christmas seems to arrive earlier each year? Whatever your thoughts on this matter, the last Sunday before the season of advent (this year Sunday 25th November 2012) is Stir Up Sunday.
