Chocolate orange waffles

These chocolate orange waffles are a real treat for those with a sweet tooth and can be whipped up in under half an hour. Top with clementine or orange segments, whipped cream and extra chocolate sauce if required!

Ingredients

  • whipped cream
  • clementine segments
  • cocoa powder, or ground cinnamon, for dusting

Equipment

  • Waffle iron

Method

Sift the flour and cocoa powder into a bowl then stir in the sugar, salt and orange zest

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs then add in the milk, orange juice and melted butter. Slowly whisk the wet ingredients into the dry to create a smooth batter then fold in the chocolate chips

Heat your waffle iron up and when at temperature, ladle the batter in. Close the lid and cook until a dark golden colour and crisped up a little (about 5 minutes)

Serve up warm sprinkled with the orange zest and covered with your choice of toppings (we've used squirty cream, cocoa powder and orange segments)
