Strawberry gin

This strawberry-infused gin recipe is one of the tastiest things you can make to sip on during the summer months. Pour over ice and top up with tonic or try it in other gin-based cocktails such as negroni.

This homemade strawberry gin is the perfect summer drink and can be ready in a matter of days. You can play around with flavour combinations; vanilla, smashed pink peppercorns or some sprigs of fresh thyme, mint or basil are all great pairings with strawberry.

  • Muslin cloth
  • Sterilised 500ml jar
  • Sterilised bottle

Method

Wash, hull and quarter the strawberries

Place in a jar with the sugar and gin, close the lid and give it a good shake to start dissolving the sugar

Leave to steep for 2–3 days, shaking each day

Strain through a muslin cloth, then decant the gin into a bottle. Best enjoyed within 1 month of making
