Blueberry gin

Preserve the flavour of summery blueberries with this simple infused gin recipe. Simply mix it with tonic over ice or get more creative by adding it into a cocktail.

This gorgeous violet-coloured gin is delicious simply with tonic or as part of a cocktail. Get experimental with additional flavours; a cinnamon stick or liquorice tea bag work nicely with the flavour of the blueberries.

  • Muslin cloth
  • Sterilised 500ml jar
  • Sterilised bottle

Method

Wash the berries and place in a sterilsed jar

Use a masher or the end of a rolling pin to lightly crush the blueberries – just enough to split the skins a little

Add the sugar and gin, close the jar and give it a good shake

Leave to steep for 2–3 days, giving the jar a shake each day

Strain the berries through a muslin cloth and bottle the gin. Best enjoyed within 1 month
