This gorgeous violet-coloured gin is delicious simply with tonic or as part of a cocktail. Get experimental with additional flavours; a cinnamon stick or liquorice tea bag work nicely with the flavour of the blueberries.

1
Wash the berries and place in a sterilsed jar
2
Use a masher or the end of a rolling pin to lightly crush the blueberries – just enough to split the skins a little
3
Add the sugar and gin, close the jar and give it a good shake
4
Leave to steep for 2–3 days, giving the jar a shake each day
5
Strain the berries through a muslin cloth and bottle the gin. Best enjoyed within 1 month
