With tropical notes of guava and citrus, this rum cocktail recipe from Vivek Singh is refreshingly fruity without being overly sweet, thanks to the pleasantly bitter gentian liqueur.

Ingredients

Imperial

  • 40ml of gold rum
  • 20ml of gentian liqueur
  • 20ml of orange liqueur
  • 60ml of guava juice
  • 10ml of lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 slice of orange, dried to garnish
  • 1 sprig of mint

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Hawthorne cocktail strainer
  • Ice

Method

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour all of the ingredients over the ice, seal, and shake hard for 15 seconds
  • 40ml of gold rum
  • 20ml of gentian liqueur
  • 20ml of orange liqueur
  • 60ml of guava juice
  • 10ml of lime juice, freshly squeezed

Use a Hawthorne strainer to hold back the ice and pour the contents into a chilled goblet glass over ice

Finish the cocktail with dried orange peel, mint and two long straws
  • 1 sprig of mint
  • 1 slice of orange, dried to garnish
