Kansas City baked beans


In Kansas City, barbecue is as much about the sides as it is the meat. This Kansas City baked beans recipe offers an authentic taste of the region, with plenty of smoky flavour. Best of all, it can be whipped up in less than half an hour.

Kansas City baked beans


Add a knob of butter to a pan over a medium heat and sweat the onions until soft but not coloured
Add the bacon and garlic and fry until the bacon starts to colour
Next add the drained beans, along with the rest of the ingredients, and stir. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10–15 minutes
Serve warm with an array of barbecued meats
