The Michelin-starred Jersey restaurant, Bohemia, has had a well-deserved makeover, creating a beautiful atmosphere to match the stunning food on offer from head chef Steve Smith.
Jersey itself is renowned for its natural beauty and rugged coast, making it a stunning backdrop for the elegant and relaxing The Club Hotel & Spa where Bohemia is based. A major refurbishment project within the hotel allowed for a redesign of the restaurant, and interior designer Jane Goff took on the challenge.
With bespoke designs and lighting solutions, Jane has managed to create a space that is sophisticated and elegant, yet also modern and contemporary. Through a striking entrance of dark granite, diners are greeted with a specially commissioned panel of illuminated kiln-fired art-glass, creating a focal point for the main restaurant.
Continuing on the glass theme, a statement glass chandelier hangs over the private dining area. Made of 200 Champagne glasses highlighted in glowing gold to give the impression of just poured Champagne, this nods towards the extensive wine list diners can enjoy with their meal.
The overall décor is a mix of muted, classical tones and fabrics, from rich purples and burnt oranges to dove greys and pale heather, all making the crisp-white linen table cloths and French J.L. Coquet plates really stand out. A mix of leather chairs and banquette sofas are chic, yet inviting at the same time.
It shouldn’t be underestimated how much the atmosphere and general surroundings can affect the enjoyment of a meal, and as such the redesign of Bohemia goes to reinforce the restaurant’s status as a gem of the fine dining world.
