Lerato Umah-Shaylor

Lerato is one of the strongest voices in African cuisine, known for her vibrant and wholesome food that explores the multiplicity of the rich African continent. Her popular immersive supperclubs and cookery classes in London and the South East have been a great tool to share the great variety the continent has to offer.

Having grown up in both West Africa and the United Kingdom, while extensively travelling around the continent, Lerato’s unique perspective can be seen in her approach to cooking. She uses her personal experiences from Lagos, London and beyond and rich African traditions to create contemporary yet nostalgic recipes.

Celebrating African produce is a great passion of Lerato’s and she is committed to celebrating these through supperclubs and cooking classes, but also through her gourmet brownies and chocolate products using Fairtrade and farmer co-owned West African chocolate. She also runs supperclubs with Waitrose & Wefifo, taking her recipes on a tour around England.
