As the flagship restaurant of Adam Handling’s ever-growing gastronomic empire, Frog by Adam Handling is where the chef-owner gets a chance to truly express himself. Utilising a whole host of cooking techniques – both modern and traditional – to cook the best ingredients in Adam’s own inimitable style has made it an instant hit, with a constantly updated menu that keeps the offering fresh and exciting.
The dining room is open, spacious and relaxed, with a full view into the open kitchen and pass. The glass-fronted entrance allows plenty of natural light to fill the room during the day, with plenty of contemporary, colourful elements to the décor which reflect the style of food perfectly. A perfect example of fine dining in a casual atmosphere, it’s where you can enjoy incredibly flavourful food that’s beautifully presented without the stuffiness of more formal, traditional restaurants.
Diners can choose from the à la carte menu, opt for a five-course tasting or go all-out with ‘Adam’s menu’ – a ten-course feast that showcases the chef’s style in full. The wine list is extensive but broken up into accessible categories, with sections devoted to more unusual tipples such as sake, ‘maverick’ producers and ‘celestial’ organic or biodynamic bottles.
The dishes themselves are often described simply with only the main elements on the plated listed, meaning there’s an element of mystery (although the front of house team are more than happy to provide more information). There’s a playful theme throughout the dishes; while they don’t take themselves too seriously, flavour is always the driving force behind everything, and while the plates are beautifully presented this is always secondary to how the food tastes.
In the basement of Frog by Adam Handling you’ll find the Eve Bar, which serves a variety of innovative cocktails created with the same attention to detail as the food upstairs. There’s also a selection of bar snacks – many of which are smaller versions of dishes served upstairs – and a private dining room which seats up to twenty.
As well as Frog by Adam Handling, Adam has a string of other restaurants to his name, including Eve Bar (in the basement of his flagship restaurant) and The Loch and The Tyne, in Windsor.
