Damian Jones

Cooking has always been a part of Damian's family. He took inspiration at an early age from his mum who was a great home cook and taught him about flavour and organisation. Boycotting sixth form for catering college, he joined several of his brothers when he graduated to work as an apprentice in the Cardiff restaurant scene.

His career began in 1980 and since then he has worked his way up through the ranks, immersing himself in experiences from classic French cuisine to banqueting and hotel work. Over the years he has gained recognition for his culinary skills, teaching ability and kitchen management in South Wales.

Damian was with Bar 44 when it was launched in 2002. He has worked in all of the family-run 44 sites including being involved in the highly acclaimed Asador 44 opening in Cardiff in 2017. Today he works as the head chef of the Penarth restaurant. Damian's vast experience in the industry means that the Penarth kitchen is now used as a training ground for apprentice chefs where he facilitates turning passion into real skills.
