Ice cream recipes

Home-made ice creams are a world apart from those purchased in a tub. In addition to controlling or substituting desired ingredients for yourself - we've all been tempted to add a little more rum than raisin on occasion - making homemade ice cream offers a wonderful opportunity to get creative in the kitchen and experiment with some slightly more unusual flavours.

This collection of ice cream recipes should provide some great inspiration the next time you fancy cooling down with a frozen treat. Anna Hansen’s Honeycomb ice cream recipe is ideal for those with an extra sweet tooth, while Chris Hruskova’s Liquorice ice cream is unusual and nostalgic in equal measure.

For an even more unusal flavour, try a Cheddar ice cream recipe from Marcus Wareing, Earl Grey ice cream recipe from Nathan Outlaw or Simon Hulstone’s Butternut squash ice cream recipe.

For the most part the recipes in this collection call for the use of an ice cream maker; while it is possible to make them without, the results will be far superior if an ice cream maker is used. If you do not own one, however, try Alyn Williams’ low fat Frozen yogurt recipe - just as creamy as ice cream but nowhere near as naughty, and it can easily be made by hand.
