Joe Fox

Joe Fox is a London-based chef, specialising in modern British cuisine inspired by seasonality and the Slow Food movement.

He has worked at some of the UK’s most respected restaurants, including Launceston Place and HIX Soho where he met the talented Damian Clisby. In 2014, he took on the role of sous chef at Petersham Nurseries, following Damian to Richmond, and was quickly promoted to Head Chef.

At Petersham, Joe developed a passion for the highest quality, seasonal, organic produce. He trained as a beekeeper, tending to the restaurant’s hives, which inspired him to establish the social awareness project Bee Kind & Dine, with the mission of educating people on the importance of preserving the bee population. When plans were announced for the new Covent Garden restaurants, Joe oversaw the successful opening of Petersham and La Goccia as Head Chef. Joe now joins Townsend, a new modern British dining room and café at Whitechapel Gallery opening this February.

Joe’s enthusiasm for sustainably-grown produce and supporting community farms is something he keen to show at Townsend. Over the years he has built strong relationships with suppliers such as Neal’s Yard Dairy and Sutton Community Farm, whose produce feature on his new menus, alongside bread and pastries made in-house.
