How to crush garlic

Garlic can be used in recipes whole, crushed or sliced. For recipes where the flavour of garlic is throughout the dish it is best to use crushed garlic as with Tom Aikens basil and garlic macaroni cheese or Marcello Tulley's lemon and herb marinated salmon skewers.
