Advent calender gingerbread biscuits

Ingredients

  • 250g of butter, softened
  • 250g of caster sugar
  • 375g of plain flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • coloured fondant icing

Method

Beat the butter & sugar together until pale & creamy

Beat in the flour & ginger until it starts to come together (add a little water if needed)

Form together into a smooth ball with your hands

Roll out on a lightly floured surface to approx. 3-4mm thick

Cut out hearts and stars with a cookie cutter

Place onto a baking sheet

Bake in a preheated 170°C oven for 10-12 minutes until light golden in colour

Allow to cool on a wire rack before decorating

Cut out numbers 1-24 with coloured icing and stick onto the biscuits with a little water
