As Matthew Fort says, in general, the British public like to play it safe when it comes to food - many home cooks stick to old-time favourites like a great roast beef dish, a classic spaghetti bolognaise, a nice spicy homemade curry or even a good old fashioned English jelly. In Great Britain on average people cook from a repertoire of just 6 recipes, however we believe variety is the spice of life, so we have decided it is time to mix things up.

Ocado and Great British Chefs have, therefore come together to create the first ever Ocado Mealtime Masterclass which was broadcast live on Google+ page and via YouTube recently.

The Ocado Mealtime Masterclass involves Matthew Fort, one of judges on The Great British Menu, cooking recipes with three of the finest chefs in the country - Galton Blackiston, Simon Hulstone and Josh Eggleton.

You can watch recordings of the event and follow these three great chefs every step of the way as they create their dishes.

Quail eggs with Bois Boudran - Galton Blackiston

Galton Blackiston was first up with his Scotch Egg recipe - it is a bit different as is made with quails eggs and comes with a delicious bois boudran dipping sauce. Scotch eggs have always been great favourites of the picnicking masses but now you can make your own scotch eggs rather than purchase them.

Curried chicken Kiev - Simon Hulstone

Second up was Torquay's Simon Hulstone, who has spent much of the year cooking for Olympians and helping British Airways reinvent their First Class menu with Heston Blumenthal. However, these matters are far from Simon's thoughts today as he prepares a fresh and fun take on the much maligned chicken Kiev. Simon's chicken Kiev recipe mixes things up by including curry in the centre of the Kiev!

Pimm's Jelly with Cucumber Sorbet - Josh Eggleton

To close out this historic first ever Mealtime Masterclass we have Josh Eggleton who is one of the youngest chefs in Great Britain to win a Michelin star and certainly the youngest to win a Michelin star for a pub. He is sharing his amazing Pimm's jelly recipe which is sure to be popular this summer.
