Great British Chefs demonstrates how to poach an egg

STEPS

1.   Ensure that your eggs are cold, good quality and as fresh as possible

2.   Bring a large pot of water to the boil

3.   Reduce the heat to a soft boil

4.   Crack the egg into a small cup

5.   Add one teaspoon of white wine vinegar to the water

6.   Swirl the water to create a whirlpool motion

7.   Gently place the egg into the water, making sure the lip of the cup is as close to the surface of the water as possible

8.   Cook the egg until the white is opaque

9.   Remove the egg with a slotted spoon and place on an absorbent kitchen towel. This will help to remove any excess water

10.   Your poached egg is now ready to eat
