How to fry tofu

Firm tofu is sold in a block and can be sliced or diced to be pan-fried and used in a range of recipes from salads to stir fries. Shallow-frying tofu is ideal for creating a crisp texture on the outside of the tofu whilst keeping a softer texture on the inside. Shallow-frying uses less oil than deep-frying. Whenever using tofu, remember to rinse and dry the block of tofu before cooking.

Method

1
In a non-stick pan, heat a dash of oil on a high heat
2
Dice the tofu into even size pieces roughly 2cm
3
Once hot, fry the tofu on each side until crisp and golden. Serve immediately

Variations

Try flavouring the tofu with salt, pepper and spices such as ground coriander and cumin for extra flavour. The tofu can be marinaded the day before cooking with soy sauce chilli and ginger.
