The Michel Roux Jr and Monica Galetti Experience

by Helen Best-Shaw
Who wouldn’t love to be cosseted, tutored, hand held and encouraged by Michel Roux Jr and Monica Galetti in the kitchen? Discover what happened when Helen had a once in a lifetime experience of a masterclass with the ultimate MasterChefs.

What a joy for MasterChef fans last week. We were treated to some completely compelling television: kitchen triumphs and disasters, tantalising glimpses of life in Michelin-starred kitchens with some of the most talented chefs in the country and even a few painful injuries along the way.

Sitting down to watch this week's episodes of MasterChef: The Professionals, I began to reflect on what the first four rounds tell us about the UK culinary scene in 2012. One thing is certain - celeriac purée is most definitely IN. It has been a feature of countless dishes as the series has progressed.

Three weeks in to MasterChef: The Professionals and we have seen three quarters of this series’ 40 contestants come through the doors and into the grand kitchen-cum-studio. With a huge range of ages, skill sets and levels of experience, discover why Rory believes the resulting dishes have been an odd mix at times, but thinks it's probably fair to say that the best six chefs have made it through to the semi-finals.
